Doreen Lee
Registered Clinical Dental Technician , Denturetech
BDentTech 2013 Otago, PGDipClinDentTech 2014 Otago
Doreen is a proud, born and bred Dunedin girl. She has lived there most of her life, only making the move up to Auckland to further her career and join the DentureTech team.
Doreen attended the University of Otago where she studied Dental technology. She liked the combination of science and art that the profession provides and achieved real satisfaction from creating something with her hands.
Her love of learning was not satisfied upon graduation, so Doreen went back to university and furthered her education with a Post-Graduate diploma in Clinical Dental Technology; qualifying her to work one-on-one with the public. Growing up, Doreen would work in her parents’ fish and chip shop after school – she loved meeting new and different people everyday and her role as a Clinical Dental Technician ticks all the right boxes for Doreen.
“ I enjoy the different types of conversations I have with my patients. People are really interesting. I love seeing my patients walk out the door with their new dentures and a new-found confidence in themselves. It is so rewarding”.
Outside of work, Doreen dances West Coast Swing twice a week. West Coast Swing is a partner dance style, designed to allow more freedom and expression of movement. It can be adapted to any genre of music. “I like the fluidity of movements in West Coast Swing. It allows me to be creative and improvise my dance steps, which is challenging and fun” says Doreen.
